Heating Maintenance Checklist




We provide a comprehensive preventive maintenance tune-up that includes a complete safety check-up in addition to all the regular maintenance. This includes electronic carbon monoxide testing and checking for gas leaks in addition to the safety control checks listed below.

    Thermostat Check
  1. Check the thermostat for dust and dirt (level if needed).
  2. Check the setting of the heat anticipator.
  3. Check for proper calibration.
  4. 
    Blower Motor Check
       
  5. Check all wiring in blower compartment for loose connections.
  6. Clean blower compartment.
  7. Check motor and blower bearings.
  8. Oil motor and blower bearings.
  9. Check pulley and drive alignment (adjust if needed).
  10. Check fan belt for wear and proper tension.
  11. 
    Burner Check
       
  12. Remove burners and chemically clean (as needed).
  13. Remove pilot assembly and clean.
  14. Check and adjust primary air to all burners.
  15. Check manifold gas pressure.
  16. Check pilot flame (adjust if needed).
  17. 
    Safety Control Check
       
  18. Check high limit safety (adjust if needed).
  19. Check fan on and off temperature settings.
  20. Check safety on gas valve for proper drop off settings.
  21. Check thermocouple.
  22. Check termerature drop over heat exchanger.
  23. Check unit for gas leaks with an electronic leak detector.
  24. Check unit for carbon monoxide leaks with an electronic leak detector.
  25. 
    Combustion Chamber Check
       
  26. Visually inspect heat exchanger for cracks, holes, or rust forming.
  27. Check all sections for proper draw.
  28. 
    Electrical
       
  29. Check amp draw on blower motor.
  30. Check amp draw on thermostat.
  31. Visual check of low voltage and power wiring.
